Landslide Hazard Zoning Using Multivariate Linear Regression (Case Study: Kohsar Watershed)

author

Abstract:

The aim of this research was to generate a landslide hazard zoning map by using the multivariate linear regression method in the Kohsar Watershed, Northwest of Tehran. Initially, we used field surveys, local interview and review of studies outside and inside of Iran. Eleven effective factors were recognized on landslide. These factors included: slope degree, slope aspect, elevation, lithology, land use, road, drainage, fault, precipitation, soil texture and erosion. In the next stage, the information layers of the above parameters were prepared in the geographic information system (GIS) environment using Arc GIS 9.3 software. These maps were overlaid with the landslide inventory map. Then, a homogeneous unit map was prepared. In order to quantify the factors and give an appropriate weight to the parameters, the slide area percentage in each unit was calculated. Multiple regressions were used for statistical analysis. The results showed that the three factors - river, road and soil texture had the highest effect on landslide occurrence.

Landslide Hazard Zoning using Gamma Fuzzy Operator (A Case Study: Taleghan Watershed)

One of the slopping processes which creates tremendous damage in many locations of Iran and the world is landslide phenomenon. Creating a landslide susceptibility map provides the possibility to recognize susceptible areas and to verify them in the environmental programs. The purpose of this research is to map the susceptibility of landslide in Taleghan watershed by establishing informational l...

Investigating factors affecting the occurrence of mass movements using Multivariate Linear Regression (Case study: Abidar watershed)

Investigating the factors affecting the occurrence of mass movements, help to identify sensitive areas and providing solutions and ways to control and proper management, partly to prevent the occurrence of mass movements. This research tried to recognize the factor affecting the occurrence of mass movements in the Forest Park Abidar watershed. In this research, information layers including lith...

Landslide hazard zonation using of model Shannon entropy(case study: Taleghan watershed)

Reviewing the damage caused by landslide proves the need to examine the factors influencing the occurrence of this phenomenon and the prediction of its occurrence. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to improve the prediction of landslide occurrence in the Taleghan watershed using Shannon Entropy Theory. Among the factors influencing the occurrence of landslide, ten factors of elevation, s...

Comparing Bivariate and Multivariate Methods in Landslide Sustainability Mapping: A Case Study of Chelchay Watershed

1- INTRODUCTION In the last decades, due to human interventions and the effect of natural factors, the occurrence of landslide increased especially in the north of Iran, where the amount of rainfall is suitable for the landslide occurrence. In order to manage and mitigate the damages caused by landslide, the potential landslide-prone areas should be identified. In landslide susceptibili...

landslide risk zoning potential by analytical hierarchy process (ahp) and multivariate regression (mr) (case study: upstream of north karoon basin)

in western and southern watersheds of isfahan province, combinations of natural and human factors have caused numerous landslides related damages. one of the main strategies for restricting the damage caused by the landslide is to avoid these regions. for this purpose, it is necessary to prepare precise landslide hazard zonation map for such areas. for this purpose, by aerial photos, satellite ...
